Come Find Us: Why Meeting Zawadisha in Real Life is Where It's At
There is something that happens when you pick up a hand-woven sisal basket, run your thumb along the tight, deliberate weave, and feel the weight of it in your hands. Something no product photo, even if they include the very women who weave the baskets, can replicate. You can feel that it was made by someone. The time, skill, and care are no longer abstract.
That's why every summer we sweat it out at local farmers' markets and community events with our arms full of gorgeous, handcrafted goods from across Africa. We want you to touch them. We want to tell you all the stories about how we met the makers and what impact we're collectively having in their lives.
Shopping IRL is Different (In All the Best Ways)
Artisanal goods are made by human hands for human hands. They deserve to be touched, smelled (yes, we mean that), and held up to the light. And when you fall in love with something at our table (fair warning, this happens a lot), you also get to ask us everything you ever wanted to know about it. Where did this come from? Who made it? What does your name mean? (Zawadisha is Swahili, and it means to give a gift, and yes, we love that question.)
We don't show up just to sell things. We show up to share the stories of the women in Kenya whose lives are changed by our microloans, funded by every single sale. We take the time to explain why we only carry goods that are ethically sourced and beautifully made. And we love sharing why we believe that who you buy from matters just as much as what you buy.
Where to Find Us This Season
Made in Tahoe — Palisades, Tahoe — May 24 & 25, 2026
This one is special. Made in Tahoe is a celebration of artisan goods and the people behind them, and we are so excited to be part of it this year. If you've been meaning to check out Zawadisha for a while, this is your moment. Two full days, a gorgeous mountain setting near Lake Tahoe, and us, ready to talk your ear off about all of it.
Shirley's Farmers' Market — Reno — Saturdays from 8 am to 12 pm
Ditch the crowds and the long lines and come find us at one of Reno's longest-running markets. Come grab your vegetables, pick up a loaf of bread from Beloved, and swing by our tent for something that'll make you feel good twice: once when you pick it up, and once every time you use it at home.
The market runs every Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm the last Saturday of May through the first week of October. You'll find us there June and September.
Riverside Farmers' Market — Reno — Sundays from 8 am to 1 pm
Reno's only year-round market with all the vibes. We love this community and love getting to be part of Sunday mornings at Idlewild Park. Find us near the food trucks, say hi, and let us show you what just arrived. We're there most Sundays unless we're in Kenya or taking a day to rest, so if you're making a special trip, make sure to message us in advance.
Shop Us Year-Round at Wyld Market Collective — Reno
Can't wait for the next market? Good news: you don't have to. We have a shop within a shop at Wyld Market Collective, Reno's beloved home for handmade goods and small-batch makers at 1640 S Wells Ave. It's exactly the kind of place Zawadisha belongs — a space built around craft, intention, and real community. Pop in any Wednesday through Saturday from 11am–7pm, or Sunday from 11am–4pm, and you'll find our goods right there on the shelf, ready to be given a new, loving home.
Can't Make It? We've Got You.
We know not everyone can get to a market or an event. That's okay, and that's why our full collection is always available at zawadisha.org. Every purchase, whether you made it at a farmers' market on a sunny Saturday or from your couch on a Tuesday night, goes directly toward funding microloans for women in Kenya. Every single one.
But if you can come find us IRL? Please do. We'll save you the good stuff ;)
